Tuesday Talks with the PA BLN allow companies from across the state and country to quickly learn about a valuable resource or success story related to the employment of people with disabilities. These free monthly phone calls are scheduled on the second Tuesday of every month from 8-9 a.m. EST.

Participants are also able to have discussions with their peers about topics that address: ideas for accommodations; ways to improve recruitment and/or retention; ideas for becoming a company of choice for employees and customers; strategies for compliance; financial incentives available to businesses; and more!

Join the PA Business Leadership Net work to hear about how the National Organization of Nurses with Disabilities (NOND), the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and the Chicago Business Leadership Net work are addressing the labor needs of the healthcare industry.

  • September 11, 2007- Are you interested in hearing about an employer’s success story in hiring individuals with disabilities?  

Join this call to hear about Wawa’s success in employing people with disabilities and their long time relationship with Eden Institute. Wawa and the Eden Institute began their relationship over 25 years ago.  Today, Wawa presently employs 22 of Eden ’s adult participants with Autism in 12 stores throughout central New Jersey .

  • October 9, 2007-  As an employer, are you unsure of what your role should be in returning an employee with a mental health concern to the workplace? 

Join us for this call on October 9th as Laura Ditrich-Moorhead, MEd, LPC, CRC, CDMS, ABDA, from Cigna Group Insurance leads us on a discussion about Return To Work Strategies for those with a Mental Illness.

  • November 13, 2007- Interested in hearing about a large employer’s ongoing success and the bottom-line benefits of their efforts?

Join this call to learn more about the commitment of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and their program called, Project SEARCH.  Project SEARCH uses a business model to provide meaningful employment and education opportunities for individuals with significant barriers to employment. The model is characterized by non-traditional jobs for people with disabilities and strategic partnerships with industry, education and training, and support services.

  • December 11, 2007- Are you curious to hear about the struggles that individuals with disabilities often face when trying to find and/or retain employment? What do you think are the common barriers within the recruitment processes of many employers? 

Join the PA BLN on December 11th and hear about the experiences of a few successful employees with disabilities.  These panelists will share information about their current employment situation and the accommodations that may have been necessary for their position.  Participants in this call will gain a heightened sense of awareness about recruitment processes and workplace policies which may inadvertently deter qualified candidates from applying to or remaining with a company.
